[[Albert, Prince Consort|Albert]] is annoyed that he was not told about the Captain's regular letters to his wife. During a carriage ride, a man shoots at the young [[Queen Alexandrina Victoria|Queen]] and [[Albert, Prince Consort|Prince Consort]]. Albert saves Victoria from a gun attack a young man named Edward Oxford, a member of the Young England party, to which the Duke of Cumberland is suspected of having links. Some days later, Victoria gives birth to a daughter, later named Victoria, whilst [[Ernest II|Ernest]] fights his feelings for the Duchess of Sutherland and [[Nancy Skerrett|Miss.
